Agapanthus is an evergreen plant which have filform leaves and an erect stem with an umbel with trumpet shaped flowers.
It belongs to the amaryllidaceae family.
It thrives in fertile, well drained and moisture soil in full sun, when we plant it in shade the flowering is poorer and will have more leaves.
It is a hardy plant, but for a better flower display we should feed it weekly or every 15 days during the growing season until flowers start to show colour.
It can be planted in almost any type of soil, but slightly acid.
A good time to split the plant is after flowering or early spring, every four or five years.
If you wish to cut the stem once the flower is over, you can do it.
Normally this is a plant which is not affected by deseases, or pests with the exception of snails.
