Armeria maritima  or Sea thrift is a small, slow and low growing plant. It is notable for its pink or white flowering in spring and its tolerance to drought and salinity

Armeria maritima or Sea thrift is a herbaceous evergreen plant of reduce growth, which belongs to the plumbaginaceae family.

It is a small and beautiful plant of dark green leaves whose spherical flowers in pink or white flowers emerge up right  offering a nice contrast.

It is ideal to be used in a rockery  garden or for edgings or border fronts.

For it to thrive properly it needs rich soils with a good drainage system, in addition to a sunny spot.

When the place does not have good drainage and soils remains wet for a long time, tuft tends to open from the middle. Once the plant is well seated it practically does not need any water.

Armeria offers high tolerance to environment's and water's salinity.

Once the flowering has finnished it is recommended to remove dry strands of flowers and leaves, even the tuft can be  cut in the case that it is not developing correctly.

Sea thrift do withstand cold or freezing temperatures and usually it does not suffer from pests or diseases.
