Dypsis or Chrysalidocarpus Lutescens, also known as the "Yellow Palm"  belongs to the aracaceae family.
It is one of the most popular indoor palms. Of bushy appearance, due to the large amount of leaves which come up from its base in form of a trunk, and which can reach even 8.00 mtrs, high. Beautiful palm.
These trunks gets a yellowish colour, mainly when they received enough light.
Dypsis needs a rich soil with a good drainage system, and a good fertilizer to keep the plant strong and green during spring and summer.
Regarding irrigation, and depending on location, water Dypsis, at least once a week during the summer.
-Dip the flowerpot into another recipient up to half, then wait until the earth is totally wet, or
-Add the water on top very slowly, making that the substrate acts like a sponge so that it takes as much water as possible.
-Water again only when the soil starts beign dry.

It does not thrive properly with low temperatures.
Watch the plant to keep it free from aphids, mealy bugs, or scales- A good habit is to keep the leaves clean, and to keep the plant with enough humidity  in the soil and in the environment, so it is good idea to spray the leaves with water every now and then.
