Platycerium Bifurcatum

Native to tropical and subtropical regions, Platycerium bifurcatum, also known as "Elkhorn" or "Elkhorn Fern," has captivated nature lovers for decades. Its name comes from its bifurcated leaves that resemble elk antlers, creating a unique, sculptural appearance.

Platycerium bifurcatum is notable for its distinctive growth habit. Watering: Keep the substrate slightly moist but not soggy. Water when the top layer of the substrate is dry to the touch. Avoid overwatering which could lead to root deterioration. Fertilizer: During the growing season (spring and summer), fertilize monthly with a balanced fertilizer. Reduce fertilizer in fall and winter when the plant enters a resting period.

Platycerium bifurcatum is adaptable, but generally prefers warm, humid climates. In cold temperatures, below 10°C, be sure to protect it and avoid drafts. In very hot climates, be sure to provide partial shade and increased humidity to avoid heat stress.
