The Bougainvillea is a climber of perennial leaves in areas of rainfall throughout the year, or deciduos if it is cultivated in areas of periods of  rain and drought.
It belongs to the family of the nyctaginaceaes.
Its branches are long and ungainly with spikes.
The Bougainvillea is a very resistant climber and grows well in any type of soils, and although it is better to sow it straight in the ground, we can have it in flowerpots, whenever it has enough depth, and facilitating  the demands of Bougaivillea.
"Spectabilis" variety on different colours, of bigger flowers and more messy which we use for pergolas, fences, walls, etc.
-"Glabra Sanderiana" which is more compact and of a purple color and a bit smaller flower that apart of being used as the "spectabilis" we use much more for , in a ball shape or small tree, or for the realization of compact hedges, being the most commonly used in these latter cases the "glabra sanderiana"  variety which is that of the purple colour.
Feed your Bougainvillea with special fertilizers for climbers  from April until June, and add a good layer of new compost during the spring.
With regard to irrigation, we will give more water during the summer season, decreasing it during the autumn and sporadically in winter.
Take care with mealybugs.
