Polygala myrtifolia is an evergreen shrub on the polygalaceae family.

It is a very tough plant, which changes to adapt itself to the different areas where it can grows, from coastal areas to inland climates.

It blooms during the most part of the year in warmer climates, and it is not a problem to prune it whenever it is necessary.

Trim it lightly to encourage the plant and get bushier foliager also to encourage new bloomings.


Polygala myrtifolia is not demanding on special soils, with a normal enriched it will thrive.

Nevertheless the use liquid fertilizers in pots or slow release fertilizers in the garden will contribute to have a more attractive plant.

However it can suffer from yellow leaves provoked by some type of virus. This virus can be prevented with some mineral oil making a barrier to the aphids which will carry  the virus.

Although, when noticing any type of infection the  best thing is to get rid of the plant to prevent the infection to spread on other plants.
