It is a very attractive plant because of its dark ash green colours with cherry edges. The colours intensify the more light they receive, but be careful that the summer sun can burn them. They are perfect for those corners that you want to decorate with colour.

They should be in bright places because, being autotrophic, they produce their own food. To do this they need two very important things, sunlight and water. In this way, the plant can develop properly. Outdoors it likes direct morning or afternoon sun. Indoors, as much light as possible is desirable.

Before watering this plant, it is very important to make sure that the soil is dry both inside and out. You can check this by sticking a toothpick into the soil and if there is soil sticking to it or it comes out damp it means that it does not need water, but if it comes out clean or dry, it needs to be watered.

It is best to do this in the morning because it will have all day to dry out, and in this way it will not arrive wet at night, thus avoiding pests or rotting caused by dampness.

It should be watered every 10/15 days or so, and when you do, do not skimp on the water you give it. This does not mean flooding it, but just enough to keep the soil moist and give it the hydration it needs for the next few days.

This plant is native to Mexico.

It has long, rod-shaped blooms up to 20cm high where the flowers hang in a linear fashion. Its colour is reddish-orange.

It is a plant resistant to cold but not to frost.

It multiplies by cutting and division of shoots, separating them once they reach 3 to 5cm or by leaf cuttings. Always remember to disinfect tools. The best season is spring and summer.

This succulent is not usually larger than 20cm in diameter.

The best substrate is a sandy one where water can drain quickly.

When the succulent has occupied the whole pot and the roots have colonised all the soil.
