Looking for some ideas for decoration with poinsettia? Here we give you some

Christmas is synonymous with poinsettias.

With the first cold months, the poinsettia begins to cover itself with its famous red leaves (which are actually bracts).

But did you know all the uses you can give this plant during the holidays?

Because it is not only about having it in a pot, but there are many ways to make it the star of our Christmas decorations.

In this post we have brought you several very original ideas that you will love, and that you can also put into practice with the little ones.

What if your thing is not crafts?

Don't worry, we've also thought about that.

At the end of the post we will tell you how you can have a beautiful decoration with poinsettias without having to put on the scissors.

But first let's look at those craft ideas.

7 ideas to decorate with poinsettias this Christmas

An important fact.

On the Internet you will see many decoration ideas in which only the red bracts of the plant are used.

But we are more in favor of using the whole plant and keeping it alive.

Thus, while it serves as decoration, you continue to have a living being in your house that breathes, and that even after the holidays you can continue to be careful (also if you take good care of it, the bracts will grow again year after year).

Now, let's get to work.

1. Personalized pots

We have said that we are going to leave the whole plant and live in its pot.

And that means that the flowerpot itself can be used as another decorative element within the composition.

Here are a couple of ideas.

A. With a jute bag.

Do you usually buy sweet coal for your children?

These sweets are very nice and are sold a lot during the holidays. And some of them even come in a cloth bag, as if they were real charcoal.

But when the treats run out, the bag is thrown away, right?

Well not this year.

This year we are going to use it to give our Poinsettia a different look.

The process is as simple as putting the pot inside the bag (you can put a pot holder first to prevent the irrigation water from wetting the fabric underneath).

Then around the bag you put a bow like the one in the image.

And with something so simple you already have a different decorative element than usual.

But beware, we are only beginning.

B. With letters

In this case what you will need are ribbons with colored patterns, like the ones in the image.

What you have to do with them is create figures (they can be letters or whatever comes to mind) on top of the pot. Or, if the pot you have your poinsettia in is too dark, you can use a white pot holder like the one in the picture.

Again the process is very simple and you just need to use your imagination.

C. With decoration in relief

Here we raise the level a little more.

In this case we are not going to settle for making a simple decoration, but we are going to go further and create a raised pot.

As?

Well, here is a video from the channel "El Taller de Ire" where they explain the step by step.

If you have children it is a great idea to do crafts together. They are sure to have a great time.

2. Hanging Pots

Who said the poinsettia is not a hanging plant?

Well, if the plant does not hang, we do it with the pot.

For this craft you are going to need some materials (they are very easy to find):

  • Metal cans (or some other container where you can put the pot and that can be drilled).

  • A screwdriver.

  • Thick twine.

  • Hot silicone.

And of course, as many poinsettias as you want to hang.

The process is as follows:

  1. With the screwdriver, poke two holes on opposite sides of the can, near the edge. Try to keep them at the same height.

  2. Insert the ends of the twine into the holes and tie a knot so they won't come off.

  3. Wrap the cans with the strings, sticking them with the hot silicone. On the strings you can put some other decorative element.

  4. Finally, hang the cans and put the poinsettias inside.

And ready!

3. Decoration with recycled materials

With these ideas you will not only generate less garbage, but it can also help you to teach the little ones the importance of recycling.

Let's see them.

A. Pots with candies

This proposal has seemed very original.

All you need is a large clear vase and something to fill it with.

In the image they have used candies with the typical Christmas colors, but you can use anything: rubber balls, hydrogel pearls, marbles ... (although if you use candies you may save yourself a visit to the dentist).

You can use a few drops of silicone to stick the candies on each other, but make sure that the silicone does not touch the glass or it will become translucent.

B. Decorative boxes

Do you have a box lying around that you are thinking of throwing away?

Well, give it a second life as a Christmas "pot holder".

In this case, what we recommend is that you pull your imagination and decorate it as you like. You can paint it, put decoration in relief (as with the video we showed you before), or wrap it in a bow as in the image.

What you like the most (you or the little ones in the house).

Do you want to decorate with poinsettias ... without having to do anything?

There is an option that we have not talked about, but which is also very common: centerpieces.

Very elaborate compositions in which the poinsettia, with its red bracts, is the protagonist. And if you are not very given to crafts, do not worry, because we can do it for you.

At Viveros González we have centerpieces (handmade by ourselves) that will allow you to give your home a special touch this Christmas.

Even if you know a plant lover, You can give him this box of decorated poinsettias.
