Acorus gramineous agenteoustriatus or Japanese dwarf rush, a plant with green or yellowish evergreen leaves.

It is native to Asia and can reach 30 centimeters in height and 15 centimeters in width and belongs to the Araceae family.

This plant grows from rhizomes, with no apparent stem, the leaves being born directly from the stem. In autumn they die to be reborn in spring.

In the summertime, a hermaphrodite flower with six petals blooms at the base of the leaves and its fruit is similar to a berry.

As it is a water plant, we can use it to decorate ponds or small pools in our garden.

It likes to be in the sun or semi-shade, on a peat or peat and sand soil that is preferably wet, watering should be moderate.

The plant is sown by splitting the rhizomes in spring with a well sharpened knife, the cut area should be treated with broad-spectrum sulfur-based fungicides.

The pieces of rhizomes should be transplanted into pots until they take root.

It is not usually attacked by diseases or pests, occasionally it can be infested by the red spider, treat the plant with a specific product.
