Adiantus Fragans (Culantrillo)

Description:

With its arching, wiry, black stems and delicate, pale green, triangular fronds, the culantrillo is everything you could wish for in an elegant fern. It is charming and elegant, and is often grown in terrariums where humidity levels are high. It also works well in bathrooms and kitchens.

Name:

Adiantus Fragrans is also known as Adiantus cuneatum and Adiantus rubellum.

Care:

- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light, although it can tolerate shade. It does not like direct sunlight.

- Watering: Keep the soil always moist and prevent the roots from drying out.

- Temperature: The ideal temperature is between 16-24°C. Avoid draughts.

- Humidity: It requires a lot of humidity, so it is ideal for growing in a steamy bathroom or kitchen. You can increase humidity by using a pebble tray filled with water and spraying regularly. Lack of moisture can cause the leaves to dry out and shrivel.

- Fertiliser: During the growing season, liquid fertiliser in a weak solution can be applied.

- Care: Remove damaged leaves immediately. If the plant has dried out, cut back to 1 cm and leave in a warm, moist environment to regenerate new growth.

- Height and growth rate: Indoors it reaches a height of 30-50 cm and has a slow growth.

- Origin: It comes from Brazil and Venezuela.
