The Alyogyne hakeifolia is a fast growing shrub that can reach two meters high. Although previously considered a hibiscus, it is actually part of the genus Alyogyne, as seen in a new reclassification.

It has violet flowers with a cup shape. Like the hibiscus, its life span is very short, between two and three days, but the bush constantly develops new flowers from spring to autumn. As a curiosity, these flowers are edible and in some areas of Australia they are used in salads.

It needs many hours of light. You can also live in semi-shade, but its flowering will be less. It is a shrub with a lot of resistance to drought, so we will water it sparingly.

In case of cultivation in an area with cold winters, we must protect the frost.
