Description:

Highly prized for its attractive foliage, the Aloe brevifolia (Short-leaved Aloe) is a perennial succulent that forms a carpet of decorative rosettes, about 10 cm wide, with fleshy leaves arranged in a triangular shape. From pale blue in shade, the leaves turn pink and golden yellow in full sun, creating a beautiful spectacle. Each leaf features white spines along the edges and some on the keel of the underside surface.

Native to South Africa.

Watering:

Easily grown in sandy or gravelly, moist or dry, well-drained soils in full sun. Water moderately when actively growing, very sparingly when dormant. Drought tolerant.

Care:

Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer 2 or 3 times during the growing season. Ideal for borders, rock gardens, succulent gardens, or Mediterranean gardens. Perfect as ground cover on a small scale or in decorative containers. The flowers produce nectar and are attractive to birds and bees. Propagate by seed sown with warmth as soon as ripe or from cuttings. Virtually disease-free. Just be cautious of mealybugs.
