Hibiscus rosa sinensis.

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is a beautiful shrub on the malvaceaes family.

Widely grown in tropical and subtropical areas it  can becomes  a small tree of 2.00/3.00 meters high.

The flowers only last a day or two, however they bloom continuously, what means that new flowers will sprout every day.

In winter, the hibiscus, loses part of its leaves when the temperature drops to 10ºC or 7ºC, an option in zones of cold climate is to place it indoors protected from low temperatures, in a warm place and of high luminosity.

Summer is the best time for the hibiscus, when it get coverered of leaves and flowers start to bloom in shaking colours like reds, pinks, whites, oranges, fucsias.

Require rich soil, wet and well-drained and best if we use suitable fertilizer.

Hibiscus can be trimmed with regularity to keep its shape. We can perform stronger pruning in the spring.  When it is a young plant can go cutting tips to make it a bushier plant.



 Hibiscus can suffer from aphides, wood-louse, red spider and also white fly, we can control it if we wash the plant, even with soapy water or with the hose to pressure when it is in the garden, arranged in groups or in hedges, but also we can apply a suitable insecticide.
