Pilea cadierei is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Urticaceae family.

Description

Its leaves are about 10 cm long, oval-shaped with a sharp apex. When they are sprouting, they are protected by pinkish stipules. These plants are no more than thirty centimeters in height. It is very striking due to the color and shape of its leaves, with small white flowers.

Care

Pileas are easy to cultivate and do not require particular care. They grow rapidly and are highly decorative. They prefer summer temperatures around 24°C, while in winter they should not drop below 10°C. They thrive in bright light but not direct sunlight.

Transplanting

They should be transplanted every year, between March or April, using a slightly larger pot each time.

Soil

A normal fertile potting mix is used, and it is not particularly demanding. It is preferable to add some sand to promote rapid drainage of watering water.

Fertilization

From spring and throughout the summer, the plant should be fertilized every 2 weeks with liquid fertilizer diluted in watering water, slightly reducing the doses compared to what is indicated on the product.
