Juniperus Horizontalis is a ground cover conifer on the cupressaceae family.

In its  habitat it lives in dry, sandy and rockery places, and needs acidic to slightly alkaline soils.

It is not a fast growing plant, something about 4.00 to 6.00cms per year; although an unique plant can, eventually, cover an area of  even 2.00 or 3.00 meters.

Prune to encourage branching, but be careful of not cutting back the oldest branches as it can happen that it does not produce new growths.

In cold climates it might change a bit the colour to a purple tone.

There are many different varieties and cultivars with diferent forms, sizes and colours.
