The Cyclamen persicum is a perennial herbaceous plant typically cultivated as an annual and belongs to the primrose family, Primulaceae.
It's relatively easy to care for if provided with proper attention:
Avoid overwatering, as it can cause the leaves to turn yellow, lose their turgidity, and increase the risk of disease. The best watering method is to immerse half of the pot in a container until the soil is moist.
It thrives in rich, well-draining soil, and applying fertilizer every two weeks during its flowering period can be beneficial.
Regular maintenance involves removing faded flowers and wilted leaves to promote plant health and appearance.
Sensitive to frost, Cyclamen still requires cooler temperatures, but not below -1ºC. Hence, it's essential to avoid placing it in heated rooms.
To ensure its return year after year, as summer approaches, trim the withered stems, place it in a cool spot, reduce watering significantly, and cease fertilization. Between October and December, it will bloom again, though perhaps not as intensely as the previous year.
This specific care cycle allows the Cyclamen persicum to rebloom and maintain its health for enjoyment in future seasons.
